Asteroids have been a subject of scientific curiosity for many years. Scientists study asteroids to gain insights into the formation of our solar system and to understand the diversity of space objects. Asteroids can also provide valuable information about the conditions of early planet formation, as they are thought to be some of the earliest planetary bodies that formed in the solar system.

The Future of Asteroid Exploration

Since then, several other missions have been conducted, including the Hayabusa and Hayabusa2 missions by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), which studied the asteroids Itokawa and Ryugu, respectively.
Currently, NASA is planning a mission called the Psyche mission, which is set to launch in the summer of 2022. The mission aims to orbit and study the asteroid Psyche, which is thought to be a metallic core from a protoplanet, providing insight into the formation of rocky planets like Earth.
